The Lorenzoni mineral insulated heating (MgO heating cables) cables represent the easiest and the most efficient solution in heating processes when you need to maintain high temperatures (up to 800°C) and when you need high powers in installations in areas with danger of explosion and fire (ATEX), in long pipes with power only to one terminal. The mineral insulated cable is made of a resistive conductor insulated with magnesium oxide and with a continous metallic outer sheath without welding.
In order to meet the various application requirements, the resistive conductor can be made of copper, Kumanal or Nike/Chrome 80/20; while the outer sheath can be made of stainless steel and Alloy.
The mineral insulated cable follows a production process consisting of a series of drawing operations alternated with annealing; the extruder executed on the outer sheath compresses the mineral insulator, which in turn, pierces the conductor as if it were a perfectly homogeneous body.
During such operation, sheath / insulation and insulation / conductive are proportional to each other without altering the properties of the Magnesium Oxide and electrical and mechanical characteristics of the metal elements that make up the cable.
MAIN FEATURES
HIGH PERFORMANCE: the cables with mineral insulation, being made of inorganic materials, can operate at very high temperature values and with high power supply.
LIFE: the cable's characteristics, determined by the inorganic components, do not degrade over time.
MECHANICAL RESISTANCE: heating cables with mineral insulation can be bent, manipulated and installed in any shape without risk of damage to their structure and alteration of their features.
PROTECTION: the outer sheath - continuous and without welding - ensures an excellent mechanical protection.
All the heating cables can be realized with cold ends connected via a welded tube which is vacuum tight, heat resistant up tp the max heater temperature. This allows to lead out the cold ends in the easiest way through pressure fittings or out of chambers by welding into flanges.
For heating application with high power densities, the use of cold ends is essential.
The cold ends of this heater type are without any change in diameter between the heated part and the cold ends. For this reason, they can be easily fixed on surfaces, in grooves with small bending radius.
The maximum working temperature is up to 1000°C.
For contacting the heaters in vacuum or high temperature enviroment metal ceramic connectors are available. In atmosphere and enviroment up to 200°C, a cable connection using a tightly encapsulated transition can be used.
